A brace of fourth placed finishes at Knockhill in Scotland for Mason Law aboard the Stauff Connect Academy ZX-10RR Kawasaki, maintains the rookie’s run of unbroken points’ scoring finishes in this season’s National 1000cc Superstock Championship.
Law came through from tenth place in Saturday’s opening Superstock 1000cc encounter at the Fife venue, finishing just outside the podium positions in that fourth place, and although he equalled that result in today’s second race, he further improved his lap time and consolidated his fifth place in the championship standings.
Speaking afterwards, the 21-year-old said: “All in all I’ve had a good weekend on my Stauff Connect Academy ZX-10RR. We started the weekend on the right track and just kept chipping away and learning things about the bike.
“We made a change for qualifying that maybe didn’t quite work, but we rectified things in race one : started tenth on the grid and worked our way up to fourth at the end, which was very rewarding. Today [Sunday] the track temperature was up and I think it made things a little slicker on track.
So where I was strong in Saturday’s race coming off the turns and making the most of the grip, I seemed to struggle on that front a bit today.
“That left me to find time by working on other areas of the circuit, and I made a good start from sixth on the grid. I got with the front group comfortably, but unfortunately the safety car came out and bunched everyone up, but all in all – I kept pushing and moved up to fourth towards the end; not far off the podium.
“The team made good progress this weekend with the bike. So on that front, I’m very much looking forward to getting to the faster tracks now like Snetterton and Thruxton to see what we can do. Big thanks as always to my GR Motosport Kawasaki Team and Happy Father’s Day to my dad Graham. We leave Scotland in pretty decent shape.”
